Mario Addison, a 6-3, 260-pound Panthers defensive end in his seventh NFL season, looks up to the 37-year-old Peppers, both figuratively and literally.
“I look to my left or my right and I’m like, ‘Man, this guy is a giant,” Addison said of the 6-7, 295-pound Peppers. “He’s a freak of nature. He’s a giant. He’s one of the guys I really have to look up to just to talk to. He’s friggin’ big, man.”
Players like Addison and 28-year-old defensive tackle Kawann Short say they’ve been trying to “soak up” as much knowledge as they can from Peppers.
“One thing about him is he’s played in different systems and that lets you know he’s very coachable,” said Addison, whom Rivera cited as having a great summer. “If you’re coachable and disciplined, it will take you a very long way.
Short, who inked a five-year, $80.5 million contract in April, compared the signing of Peppers to the acquisition of Jared Allen last year.
Matt Flynn: It feels like he’s been around forever, but he’s just 32. He last played in a real game in 2014. He was signed and released three times in 2015, and that has been it for him. But no reach is too far these days.
Ryan Lindley and Josh Freeman: Both stepped in for injured Andrew Luck in the Colts’ 2015 season finale, and neither has played an NFL game since. Lindley, 28, infamously started a playoff game under desperate conditions for the Cardinals in 2014, helped prep Jared Goff and Carson Wentz for their pre-draft workouts Packers Cheap Jerseys last year and currently plays for Ottawa in the CFL. Freeman is 29 and tried out for Pittsburgh Penguins Cheap Jerseys the CFL earlier this year.
