Class Descriptions

Toddler Classes
Children ages 2-3 with a parent work on controlling art materials and explore their uses in creating art.  An adult must be present for this class and be willing to participate as needed.

Preschool Classes
Children ages 4-5 will have the chance to put art skills to work on a variety of drawing, painting, and craft activities.

1/2 Day Kindergarten
This is a special class for kindergarten students to do on their afternoon or morning off after school.  We'll focus on drawing using shapes, cutting, gluing, and creating a wide variety of art projects together.

Primary Classes
Students in grades kindergarten, first and second will pick an area of art to explore, or take an general art class that does a little of everything.  Students will be responsible for completing a homework assignment each week, and learn to talk about their work.

Intermediate Classes
Students in grades 3, 4, 5, and 6 will work together in an area of art or in a general art class that does a little of everything.  They will develop a style and direction in their work as we spend two month blocks focusing on one subject matter or one medium.  They will complete weekly homework assignments and learn to talk and write about their art work.

Junior High/High School
These students will have a two hour block of time to work on in-depth projects and discuss them with classmates and the instructor.  They will make conscious decisions about medium choice and purposes for their art project choices.  Art techniques and skills will begin to be mastered to allow for artistic expression and voice to be communicated.

Adult Classes
Adults will be taught skills to help them be successful artists.  They will be encourage to find their own voice, and given guidance to help them effectively reach their artistic goals.
